Mickey, meet your sword

To the surprise of almost no one and in order to appear like they are actually doing something, the Jays have fired hitting coach Mickey Brantley. The Jays sucked offensively this season and that is more or less the reason they aren't going to the post-season. They do, afterall, have the best pitching in the league.

Brantley blames the injuries and the lack of "pure hitters" like Frankie Cats (a conclusion my father and I came to about 3 months ago).

So here are the Mickster's last words : "I am the goat, there's no question about that. I don't think I'm bitter. I'm not happy obviously with the decision. If my guys had stayed healthy all year and they did what they did this year, then I could actually feel that I could be in jeopardy at my job," said Brantley. "But with the injuries that were involved and the five guys from the starting lineup, I'm not a miracle guy, I don't have a magic wand."
It would be cooler if you did.
