What's that sucking sound?

How depressing was this series with the league worst Mariners? It made me listen to Joy Division and re-evaluate the direction of my life. In other words: pretty fucking depressing. So depressing, DJF has been made into some sort of soccer blog.

It's not so much that this team is bad. Or that they are going through a "rough patch". It's that there are a few bright spots, followed by a lot of sucking, or near sucking. Even their great May felt kind of shitty because they didn't gain any ground in the AL East race because it was anchored to their ass-bad April. Roses that still smell like the shit they were grown in.

I'm really trying hard not to scream at the Beej and smack him. Not only because he is coming off TJ and didn't pitch competitively for nearly all of '07, but also because he is much, much bigger than me. Now, he might be the sort who likes getting smacked around by a girl. But I'm not going to be the one to find out

Marcum was awesome today, from what I saw. But, then again, when is he not?

Peaches McG, now with glasses, was also completely awesome last night. The other day on The Season, the three baby Jays rode the D-Train in New York. McGowan was asked what he envied about the other two. He said Litsch's control and Marcum's change. And I thought "Dude, if you had those, you'd be the best freaking pitcher in the history of the universe."

P.S. Happy Birthday to my dad. Long may you hum and chuck, Daddy-o.
