Oh, you

I've read a little bit about the whole deposition with McNamee and Clemens. Jeff Blair told Matt Galloway on CBC radio that it got really tense and ugly. Andy Pettite and his wife basically backed up McNamee's statements. Clemens' neck got beet red. Other than that, I've decided I don't want to play anymore. I'm taking my ball, and I'm going home.
As a kind of salve, there is Roy Halladay. Robert McLeod has a kickass piece about Doc in the Globe. Doc on the Mitchell Report : “Everybody in baseball gets lumped into the steroids era regardless of whether it was 10 years ago or now. For me, that's the most disappointing part, they brought up stuff that happened 10 years ago, not really what's going on right now.” Took the words right out of my mouth.
This slightly cryptic comment: "We had a lot of guys [in the bullpen] last year who were kind of tired at the end of the year and I think B.J.'s not going to let that happen. Whether that's things that happen off the field or on the field, he does a great job of monitoring those guys and kind of helping them in the right direction.”
Is the Doc implying the pen partied too much last year? Were there too many hatchlings or near-hatchlings down there, and they got a little rowdy?
In the Star, here is what the Beej said: "They're fearless. We go out there and we all throw strikes. That's the main thing in the bullpen. They pitched together, they pounded the zone and they kept the ball in the ballpark. To watch them go out there and do what they did last year was great. Those guys stepped up and probably made it the best part of the team."
So glad the Beej is back. That behemoth with dimples.
Back to Doc, with this little gem: “I think there were times last year where there just wasn't that sense of urgency, where things were kind of taken lightly.”
I can't wait for the first guy to break out the nerf gun.
