WE ARE ALL WITNESS: Martin has a Big Day and SOSH has a Sad
A series between the Jays and Red Sox always seems like a dog fight. Bloody, savage and exhausting.
“It feels nice. I’ve been putting in a lot of work and been getting right where I have that feeling when I’m about to start producing. Tonight was just a result of the process that has been going on.”
Hey, look at the man who is wrong and hates fun:
How does it feel to be so wrong, Gil?
I had some fun with Rangers fans over Twitter about this. A bat flip for every punch.
So riding high off of Friday's win, the Jays had a back and fourth affair with the Sox. Stroman was rough this afternoon, but the bullpen and offense owed him some love.
I usually visit SOSH game threads when the Jays win. I'm going to pick it up after the Ortiz homer.
It made me angry. All that work to tie it and it was just undone. I don't even really know why they are pitching to Ortiz- he kills Jays pitching in this building. He just does. And hanging a curve to the man is just a recipe for a bad time. Just walk him. He'll either clog the bases or they pinch run for him and he's out of the game.
Deal with rest of the hitters. Yes, they are very good but they don't have the long history of owning your ass. Or, at least, don't hang a curveball.
Fuck you Gavin Floyd. Fuck you, umps. Fuck you Toronto. Thanks, Papi.
I'm so happy for this guy. He had a really good afternoon for about 10 minutes. I don't understand the vitriol for Floyd here. He hung a curveball. You should want to kiss him. Like, with tongues.
WE ARE ALL WITNESS
Oh we are.
Give Kimbrel the 9th he looked pretty fucking good in the 8th. Bautista was just a good piece of hitting on a good pitch low and away.
Delicious. Knowing this guy's faith is going to be crushed just gives me tingles.
Dear baseball gods, This game has been full of annoying stuff. Can we have an easy bottom of the 9th...pretty please
Baseball gods here: You have been inordinately blessed by us over the last 12 years and you've acted like ungrateful, braying idiots. So no. You've had enough blessings. It's a hard slog now and you have to bleed.
.182 hitter.
Doubting Russell Martin? What are you, a Jays fan?
All world closer cant get the corpse of Russell Martin out. Not our day
Two rough months vs his whole career of Red Sox ownage. You people are idiots. Single. Homer. Double. Bing. Bang. Bong.
Well that was loser baseball if I've ever seen it. Love Swihart gets sent down for 6 games catching terrible pitching and Vazquez skates. He was brutal on both sides today.
But everybody was terrible. When you can't get Russell Martin out from an 0-2 count on 3 separate occasions it's probably time to firesale the entire pitching staff.
But if you were to overreact, what would you say?
WHY DOES ZOMBIE MARTIN HATE US SO MUCH?
No idea. You all seem like lovely people. How did you do it, Zombie Martin?
“He’s a two-pitch guy, really good fastball and slider. I was just trying to get a pitch out over the plate to put it on a good part of the bat. I’ve had some success in the past against him a little bit and I was able to lay off some tough sliders to finally get a fastball that found quite a bit of the plate.”
Devon Travis has been fantastic at the plate since coming back and has provided a much needed spark, including the game winning single off Kimbrel.
“Man, I had fought off the first fastball and took a terrible swing at the second-pitch slider. I was just trying to battle. Put the ball in play and good things happen; my goal is just to put it in play.”
Just perfect.
This team is in a tailspin now and nothing but division games ahead.
They've lost three in a row. They have the best record in the AL.
This is what is amazing about Sox fans. Their team has won the whole thing three times in this young century. This is not a suffering fan base. I roll my eyes at Jays fans and their whinging, but at least they have some excuse. It's been rough as Toronto sports fan. Boston has been blessed.
If I ever see Russell Martin on the street, I'm going to fight him
C'est un véritable héros!
It was lovely seeing how happy Martin was. The first two months of this season can't have been easy for him and he's certainly come around nicely of late.
I listened to this while writing this.
Bonus:
Russell Martin's new walk up song. It was released just this week. Our catcher is fresh.
