The Long Lost Ballad of Doc and AJ

Roy Halladay has always been funny. In a quiet way. He demonstrates this in the MLB2K11 The Show ad. The little bit when Doc is picking a red shirt over a blue one stings a little, but there is a way that could have been funnier. Take note, ad writers: Doc should be asking Chooch for help to decide between two red shirts. The absurdity makes it funny. I kinda wanted him to kiss the Chooch doll at the end, but that would probably be too much. It did look like he was leaning in for one, though.

Looking back to when Doc was ours, when he played for the Jays (in Siberia, apparently) my favourite commercial of his was this one :

The little hand wave with his coffee cup is a nice piece of business.

Speaking of dudes that used to pitch for us, AJ Burnett talks about re-vamping his delivery to rebound from his wonderfully amusing disastrous 2010 campaign. Unless the revamp involves a brain exchange, he (and the Yankees) are probably still somewhat screwed pitching-wise.

"There's been a lot said," Burnett said. "Why wouldn't they, after what I did last year? It's my job to go out and shut some mouths, to do what I can do and not worry about everything. I don't get caught up in it."

If there was ever a guy who got caught up in it, it is him. I mean, really.
