I Don't Live in Doctober

I am impressed with Doc, I've always been impressed with Doc. He's great. It was dominant, ridiculous, unbelievable and every other superlative I can throw in to the description of his performance.

This rah rah optimism on the part of Jays fans is misguided, because this performance by Doc just proves how fucked/doomed the Jays are. Cause yes, he is awesome, but it's also context. There is no way he is better than he was at least some of the time the past 8 seasons. And he has a perfect game and a no hitter in a handful of months in the NL. Sure the Phillies as a whole are probably better than any Jays team Doc played for, but again, it's context. How would the Phillies do in the AL East? What would their record be if they faced the Yankees, Rays and Red Sox on a regular basis? There are no three teams, as a tandem, that are better in baseball.

I love the Jays and I love the direction the team is going in, but I don't like the implication that supreme athletes need to get the hell out in order to be successful.

And maybe it's annoying, like having a toy and loving it, and then losing the toy and the new owner acts like they invented it.

Maybe the Jays are cursed. Afterall, the Jays had the Eric Hinske factor in their favour longer than anyone, and the Jays never made it to the World Series.
