SOSH goes to the Polls
So last summer, Ted Kennedy died. He held his Massachusetts senate seat for 50 years but obviously had to step down on account of being 100% deceased. The United States has a rule that senators need to be at least 80% alive to hold their seats.
So there was a race. Martha Coakley, the Democrat, who should never be on the radio vs Scott Brown, the Republican and father of an American Idol contestant who I'm guessing should also not ever be on the radio, but for different reasons than Martha Coakley.
On talk radio the other day, Martha Coakley called "folk hero"/ resident blowhard Curt Schilling "Just another Yankee fan." And of course, Curt Schilling had to put in his two cents:
"I've been called a lot of things", the retired pitcher wrote: "But never, and I mean never, could anyone ever make the mistake of calling me a Yankee fan. Well, check that, if you didn't know what the hell is going on in your own state, maybe you could."
Hmm, arrogantly overemphasizing one's importance? Sounds like a Yankee fan to me. And, Curt? Your contribution to Masshole mythology was 6 years ago. You aren't exactly current events.
Granted, it was really incredibly stupid of Coakley to say that, but perhaps not more stupid than not voting for a person because of it.
But because this was the land of Sox, Coakley was beaten by Brown 52% to 47%, in what was considered a stunning upset. Of course she was.
Some are citing arrogance. Some including Schilling, who is something of an expert. Describing the Democrats’ overconfidence, Schilling quipped, “They were up three games to none, and there was no possible way they were going to lose four straight.” Ooooh, Coakley called Schilling a Yankees fan, but Schilling called Coakley an actual Yankee. Burn. I hope Coakley's stunning upset gives her a better understanding of Curt Schilling's contribution to world history.
Please fuck off.
P.S. It's totally obvious why Curt got behind Scott Brown. I love it when Republicans pose for vaguely homoerotic pictures. And yes, it was in Cosmo, but as a rule, girls don't get into nudity in the same way boys (straight or gay) do.
