BJ: A Working Theory
My dad has a working theory. Announced to me at 7:45 am.
He told me last night that BJ is finished. And I guess this theory came to him in a dream, or something.
BJ is sore. He's doing what is called short arming. BJ always kind of slung it. But he is doing something different.
Arm angle when pitching is determined by the elbow. When you are right, the elbow stays up at shoulder height, but the angle can change (cause your elbow is a hinge, yo) and it's your forearm that changes position. The hand is closer to your head if you are overhanding or further away if you are 3/4.
But, BJ might be dropping his elbow, which can happen when one's arm is sore and it effects both command and velocity (big Beej issues). Short arming is a no no because it puts a lot of strain on the shoulder.
My dad also thinks BJ is stubbornly playing hurt and that he prob should've been a hockey player if he wanted to be a tough boy idiot.
I think it's time my dad had a conference call with one Brad Arnsberg.
