A dilemma

So the Championship Series are finally set. The two seemingly "best" teams in baseball (Angels and Cubs) were eliminated in the first round and frankly, looked quite pathetic. The Angels messed up, a lot. We got one step closer to my ultimate 2008 post-season dream.

Actually, my original 2008 post-season dream was the Jays winning the World Series and Doc winning the Cy Young and WS MVP in the same season, which magically leads to resigning AJ, because he can't imagine playing somewhere without Doc, healing Marcum's ligament and impressing Manny so much that he signs with the Jays at a serious discount.

But anyway, most of that isn't going to happen, so I'll focus on what still might happen, that being Manny and his Dodgers beating the Sox. With Manny somehow hitting the walk-off to beat his former team, the crushed ball landing into Curt Schilling's big mouth and somehow taking out both Youkilis and Pedroia as it leaves the park. That's one magic ball.

So, the dilemma is this. Phillies or Dodgers...despite my dream, it seems that the Phillies might better able to prevent the Massholes from getting a back to back WS berth, perhaps the only thing we Jays fans have left to hold over them. But ew, the Phillies...'93 looms large.

The other dilemma, though a lesser one, is hoping for the Rays. Now worst to best in a season is no easy thing and its great. Except it makes the Jays kind of embarrassing as an organization. As Buck Martinez stated in the game the other night, "The Jays have the best pitching in baseball, but nobody cares about them..." (thanks, Buck)

So, hoping for Tampa is a given, but also kind of complicated. Because how can Manny directly make Massholes cry if they aren't in the WS but I can't hope for the Sox! I have learned so much since 2004, when I actually did hope for them. I suppose indirect tears will have to suffice.

So in conclusion, less this

and more this

Manny looks almost presidential in this. And he's probably more capable than Sarah Palin. Gosh darn it.
