I've got to admit it's getting better
A little better all the time ( it can't get no worse) *
Vatreno Ludilo!!!
Not to get all DJF on your asses, but Euro 2008 has been kind of awesome. For many reasons, including Euro men in shorts and brawls in the streets. But the mostly I am thankful for being introduced to the awesomeness that is Croatian coach Slaven Bilić. Former player, plays guitar in metal band Rawbau, holds a degree in Law, speaks English, German and Italian and smokes like a mother f*cker.
During games, he runs up and down the sidelines, in a grey suit that seems perhaps a size too small, arms flailing. Every time his boys missed a shot, Bilić would collapse on the ground as though a sniper had gotten him and roll around. Only to jump back up on his feet and yell at the sideline ref and then shake his hand. Interpretive dance.
Croatia was eliminated by the dreaded Turks last Friday, and my boy Bilić had this to say : “Tomorrow is a new day, the sun will rise, we will probably weep for a few more days, but such is life. We have to go on.” Awesome. Maybe Cito has something similar in his pep talk vault.
Ja nemam snage da te ne volim, Bilić, zlato moje.

* Perhaps a bit ironically, my favourite line from that song is this one: "I used to be cruel to my woman, I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved. Man, I was mean but I'm changing my scene, I'm doing the best that I can."
