Pink. Round. Efficient.

It was a magical sort of evening last night for young Jesse Litsch. Call up from Double A, was a bat boy for the Devil Rays five years ago, pitched like a demon and it was his dad's birthday. He tore out a page from the Halladay Book of Ass-Kicking by getting ground ball after ground ball (21 ground ball outs), turning a deep shade of pink while pitching and going 8 2/3 innings. The little Jays hatchling was then pied for his efforts. V-Dub also had a pie for Litsch Sr. Best game all season. And the Sox lost!! (Thanks Magglio!)

Other awesome things: Lexi's lead off HR. Troy's punch single in the 6th to score Rios to take the lead. Aaron (A-Dog) Hill's spin throw to get Corey Patterson in the 6th.

On ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick evaluates off-season pitching aquisitions based on their performances so far. Eeyore, who left the Jays for the Cubs, is number 1 (with Jason Marquis). This amused me:

"Lilly brought a 59-58 record to Chicago, but showed he could compete in the American League East, with a tenacity that figured to endear him to Cubs manager Lou Piniella. The two enjoyed a novel bonding moment recently when Lilly informed Piniella that his fly was unzipped during a conference at the mound." Along with his attention to Pinella's pants, Eeyore has a 48-8 K:BB ratio. Sigh.
