Un Rêve qui Devenait Réalité : Vlad Jr. Lights Up Montreal
Well, that was something else. This kid hasn’t even made his MLB debut yet and he’s already a legend.
I can’t claim to have called this homer because my feed was on patchy and frozen at this time, but I did tweet this right before I knew it happened.
A hanging breaking ball sufficed.
Naturally, as this was in Montreal, Rodger Brulotte had an epic call. He is a gift to baseball and his calls should be as recognized and as famous as any in baseball. It's really a signature sound.
"We dance, we sing, the dream is realized. GUERRERO. GUUUEEERRREEERRRROOOOO."
It must have been surreal for Brulotte, who called so many great Sr. moments when he was with the Expos.
Jr. should consider making this his walk-up song.
Notice that Brulotte used his "Vladeeeeemir, Vladeeeeemir, Vladeeeeeeemir" chant in both clips. Amazing.
In case you needed love this kid even more, Vlad Jr. told Benoît Rioux
«C’était un beau moment, mais déjà en venant ici, c’était les deux plus beaux jours de ma vie, a commenté Guerrero fils, au terme du match, par le biais de l’interprète québécois Josué Peley. Même si cette fin de match n’était pas arrivée, c’était déjà pour moi un rêve qui devenait réalité.»
It was a great moment but coming here was already two of the best days of my life,” said Guerrero Jr. through translator Josué Peley. “Even if this game hadn’t ended this way, it was already a dream come true for me.
That's completely clear in his face here.
When he shakes his head, that's feelings. That's "I have dreams. And my dad was the best and I love my dad. Stuff is bubbling. because this is all real but I have to actually play baseball now."
Never, ever deny that baseball is magic.
BO
Bo Bichette, our other boy of destiny, celebrated. Deliriously.
It was a blur of Mane and Tail-conditioned hair and joy.
And it's not their first time.
I would probably hate this kid if he didn't play for my team. Luckily, I don't have to worry about that.
I don't know about the future of the Blue Jays playing these series in Montreal or whether there will ever be another MLB team in this great city, but these fans will always have this.
The Most Accurate Pre-season Predictions Ever (Guaranteed)
An MLB team from Baltimore, Boston, New York, Tampa or Toronto will win the AL East.
An MLB team from Detroit, Kansas City, Minnesota, Chicago or Cleveland will win the AL Central.
An MLB team from Oakland, Seattle, Houston, Texas or Los Angeles of Anaheim will win the AL West.
A good, non-division winning team will play another good, non-division winning team in the Wild Card game. There there will be some playoff series played.
A great pitcher from the AL will win the AL Cy Young
A new player who plays in the AL will win the AL ROY
A really great player who plays in the AL will win the AL MVP. People will love and hate the choice.
All of these are guaranteed to come true.
I’ll do the NL ones later.
If you’re lucky.
