Here, at the conclusion of a trying September, I've begun to reflect on some things. The terrible start to September the Jays had meant they lost the division to the Red Sox, which was made final and official last night. While the Jays are still very much in control of their own fates, as much as an opportunity to play a one game playoff can be considered in control, things feel a little sickening. Somewhere between the Osuna pitch that went over the fence last night and the tweets about the Red Sox themed post season gear, I developed a tension headache. It's felt like a month-long tension headache. 

(BTW, using the font used for the iconic 'B' on other words besides maybe "Red Sox" doesn't look good. Those "Born to Reign" shirts don't look good. Also, "City vs Everyone" shirts officially should be over.

But, yeah, congratulations and stuff.) 

Sigh. 

The incident between the Yankees and Jays earlier in the week- the plunking, the bench clearings- was stupid. The plunking was stupid. The bench clearing was stupid. Tripping and getting injured running to the fight was stupid. The umpiring was stupid (if warnings are in place, toss the next guy who throws inside. Just do it.) Many of the takes were also stupid- so stupid I kind of checked out. Acting like this is somehow a Blue Jays specific bit of stupidity is ridiculous. Having it affect how you feel about the team is ridiculous. Sometimes they are going to act like dumb jocks. Chase Headley's post game comments were stupid. Jim Duquette calling the Blue Jays "crybabies" is stupid. All of us were stunads. 

The only thing not stupid was Mark Teixeira yelling, "BLOWN SAVE" at Jason Grilli after his bat flipping homer. That was hilarious. Enjoy your retirement, Tex. 

The Jays are now looking at securing home field advantage for this Wild Card game. Despite the fact that I hate the idea of the Wild Card game and I'm disappointed that the Jays let the division slip away this month, this is now the goal. I've accepted it. Don't tell me to be happy, but I've accepted it. 

Beat the Orioles. Beat the Red Sox. 

Just. Keep. Winning.
