The Weekend that Was: Jays Take Three of Four from O's
2.5 games out of first.
That's the result of the weekend series. Let's look a little closer.
Game 1
A tie game always favours the home team: the away team has to score the winning run and then get another three outs. The home team has to score the winning run and then jump on the dude who scored it and rip his clothes off.
Marcus Stroman had another rough start.
Kyle Matte of BP Toronto goes in depth, complete math and charts.) Basically, he suggests Stroman's pitches are too similar. Just based on my own observations, minus math and charts, I'd say his plan of attack is getting a little predictable.
Game 2
Edwin Encarnacion hit a walk off homer. I screamed when it happened.
I legit screamed.
Game 3
Notable quote following the game on Saturday was from Orioles' starter Mike Wright.
This is notable because EE has been one of the most dangerous hitters in baseball since his breakout in 2012 and I didn't even know the Orioles had a starting pitcher named Wright until I saw him on the mound.
Also, Chris Davis is hitting .228.
Anyone suggesting to the Jays that Davis isn't to be taken seriously should be shot into the sun. And also, Blue Jays? Maybe stop pitching to Chris Davis.
After securing the win on Saturday, Jason Grilli full on attacked Russell Martin.
Game 4
The Jays beat the crap out of Ubaldo Jimenez, who lasted one third of an inning. It was great.
Martin's three run homer to centre in the sixth was the difference. Also. his bat flip was quietly bad ass. The little skip is his trot, too.
What started out as a blow out turned into a nail biter. (Seriously, stop pitching to Chris Davis.)
Carrera made a beautiful catch in the ninth.
Grilli finally slammed the door with the Jays up 10-9 and pounced on Martin for the second time in two days.
2.5 games out of first.
RIP Emma 2002-2016. A very, very good girl.
