Falling Slowly: Jays Implode Late Versus White Sox

The game last night was two faced. The first half featured offensive dominance by the Jays, continuing the trend established over the weekend, and everything seemed to be chugging along towards victory. Miguel Gonzalez was not great and the Jays doled out punishment.

And then

Marcus Stroman, though low in pitch count, lost command on his fastball and stopped throwing strikes.

He also instinctively swiped at a ball hit by Dioner Navarro that probably would’ve been an inning ending double play but instead spread gasoline over simmering embers.

And then the bullpen stopped getting guys out. It felt like an endless stream of bodies coming out of the gate

And it was 6-5. And then 7-5. And then over.

Brett Cecil did not have a great night at work.

Gibby, do you regret putting him in?

Good! Why not?

This game felt a lot like the Home Opener.

Early dominance. Faltering. Disaster. An opponent named after hosiery.

A game in which the league MVP hits a grand slam should be a victory. A game that is 5-1 going into the 7th with your “ace” on the mound should be a victory.

Baseball cares nothing for "should."

Brett Lawrie looks skinny and is wearing glasses.

And maybe because I started watching Penny Dreadful as this game escalated towards suck, this is all I could see:

Otherwise, he's similar.

TEAM PHOTO DAY!!!!

Many mentioned Gibby's epic manspreading, but I decided to focus on something different.

It's blurry, but Troy Trevor Tulowitzki is smiling.
