Rockies 8 Jays 9

When Acorn gave up a two-run HR in the top of the10 th, I said to myself "This one will be a heartbreaker". There was a feeling that perhaps it wasn't over yet. Some clutch singles by Stairs, Hill and Thigpen and then JMac and a timely/silly throw by Rockies catcher Ianetta scored the winning run.

Lind, Rios and Wells homered. And V-Dub's single in the 7th was career hit #1000.

Troy struck out in the 9th with two on and the look on his face was fantastic. He looked posessed. Pure seething rage.

Oh and Sparrow wasn't too great. The only difference is that he had offense this time, so he got a no-decision rather than a loss. I don't know what to do with him. I like him, I hope for him but sigh.

Rockies 6 Jays 11

Old men won the game. Stairs and Hurt, combined age of 78, had one hell of a game. Matt Stairs went 4 for 5, with a HR and 2 RBIs. Stairs seems to be very well loved by his teammates. As Hurt puts it, "I've played with Matt a long time. He's a great hitter. He's always been a great hitter. He's brought a spirit to this clubhouse every day and it's been great." Thomas went 4-4 with 4 RBIs and a walk. Two of those RBIs came on career HR # 498. He was also thrown out on the bases like 3 times.

Ty Taubenheim (whose last name can be loosely translated to pigeon-house in German) was kinda lucky the bats were working.

I had butterflies from about the 7th inning on because Dustin "Peaches" McGowan pitched no-hit baseball for 8 1/3 innings until Jeff Baker punched a single into centre. I don't think I've ever seen someone so sad to get a 1 hit shutout before.

VDub had a 3-run shot and he did the little bat toss that he does when he knows it's gone off the bat. And Hurt hit a moonshot for HR # 499. Is he finally heating up? Because I'm a little tired of defending him. But I'll keep doing it.
